Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of PlayHT's AI voice generation services, including text-to-speech, voice cloning, auto dubbing, and all related features. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.

We are committed to the responsible development and use of AI voice technology. This policy exists to protect our users, their audiences, and the broader public from harmful or deceptive uses of synthetic voice technology.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not use PlayHT to generate, distribute, or facilitate any of the following:

Fraud & Deception

Impersonating real individuals without consent, creating fake audio evidence, phishing, scams, or any form of identity fraud.

Harassment & Abuse

Content that threatens, harasses, bullies, or intimidates any individual or group. This includes non-consensual intimate audio.

Misinformation

Generating fake news, deepfake audio intended to mislead, or content designed to manipulate public opinion or elections.

Illegal Activities

Any content that violates applicable laws, promotes violence, terrorism, child exploitation, or facilitates illegal transactions.

Hate Speech

Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.

3. Voice Cloning Ethics

Voice cloning carries unique ethical responsibilities. By using our voice cloning feature, you agree to:

Required Consent

✓ Only clone your own voice or voices for which you have explicit, documented written consent from the voice owner.
✓ Inform the voice owner about how the cloned voice will be used, including commercial applications.
✓ Maintain records of consent that can be provided upon request.
✓ Do not clone voices of public figures, celebrities, or politicians without their explicit authorization.
✓ Do not clone voices of minors under any circumstances.

We reserve the right to request proof of consent at any time and to remove cloned voices that violate this policy.

4. Rate Limits & Fair Use

To ensure service quality for all users, the following fair use guidelines apply:

•Do not attempt to circumvent credit limits, rate limits, or other usage restrictions
•Do not use automated tools to create multiple free accounts
•Do not resell or redistribute PlayHT-generated content as a competing service
•Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or replicate our AI models
•Do not use the service in ways that could degrade performance for other users

5. API Usage

If you access PlayHT through our API, additional guidelines apply:

•Keep your API keys secure and do not share them publicly
•Implement reasonable caching to minimize redundant API calls
•Comply with rate limits as documented in our API documentation
•Clearly disclose to your end users that audio is AI-generated when required by applicable law
•You are responsible for ensuring your end users comply with this AUP

6. Monitoring & Enforcement

PlayHT reserves the right to:

•Monitor usage patterns to detect potential policy violations
•Use automated content moderation systems to flag prohibited content
•Review flagged content manually when necessary
•Cooperate with law enforcement when required by law

We respect your privacy and will only review content when there is reasonable suspicion of a policy violation or when required by law.

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this policy, please report it immediately:

•Include as much detail as possible: URLs, screenshots, account information
•Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and handled confidentially

8. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this policy may result in one or more of the following actions, depending on severity:

Level 1 Written warning and request to remove offending content

Level 2 Temporary suspension of account and/or API access

Level 3 Permanent account termination without refund

Level 4 Referral to law enforcement authorities

We reserve the right to take immediate action (including suspension) without prior notice for severe violations.
